In order to improve the result of our cybersecurity training program, we have recently developed an online cybersecurity board game.
1. People are more willing to participate
Most workers aren’t excited by their corporate training programs, there is no doubt about it. Why would they? They already have a huge workload and no one wants additional training that requires so much hard work and effort.
However, we saw people who were actually willing to participate in a fun microlearning game that teaches them cybersecurity knowledge, in which they eventually have to spend time on. We find out gamification and microlearning design are 2 of the most important factors to arouse people's interests for corporate training.
2. People are more engaged
During the time while we work with our learners, we were amazed by how engaged a learner can be while participating in training game. A lot of them actually cared about what they were learning, some of them even asked more questions after they finished the training game. This was a good indication to prove that well written contents and situations are really important to keep your learners engaged.
3. Long-term memory
A lot of studies already have shown that repetition learning significantly increased the memory performance for detailed and associative information. Throughout our game training, we have experience how much more learners can remember with a well-designed training game.
These lessons we have learned also reminds us how important to look for users’ feedbacks and evaluate user experience of a product. After all, the training program is to serve users, not the purposes of the program designers.
